Hi, I’m Alex.
With a Master’s in Clinical Nutrition and a PhD in psychiatry, I’ve spent years studying how the gut, brain, metabolism, and nervous system shape mood, behaviour, and self-perception. I have always been fascinated by how and why people can appear ‘healthy’ on paper, yet feel flat or out of sync in their bodies.
Healthy & Vain grew out of lived experience — I spent years with disordered eating, of being disciplined but dysregulated, controlled but not at ease. Of understanding the science, yet realising that knowledge alone doesn’t always translate into embodiment.
What finally changed things wasn’t more optimisation.
It was learning how to listen to my body properly.
Vanity, in its original sense, simply means to value. Healthy & Vain is about valuing your body enough to treat it intelligently, not harshly.
Modern wellness teaches us that wanting to be beautiful may come at a cost, leading to restriction, obsession, and a lower quality of life. When vanity is pursued the wrong way, it becomes exactly that — being vain, in vain.
Healthy & Vain exists because that separation never made sense to me.
Beauty and biology were never meant to compete. When you regulate the gut, the nervous system, and your metabolic foundation, your body starts to trust you. Leanness becomes steadier. Skin clears. Energy sharpens, and confidence follows. Not through force, but through alignment.
